About Lauren
Lauren Alderfer, PhD, brings decades of meditation and mindfulness practice to her work with microdosing and entheogens. Her newest book, Mindful Microdosing: A Guidebook and Journal, draws on this extensive experience. She is also the award-winning author of Teaching from the Heart of Mindfulness. Named to Who's Who in America in 2026 and featured in The Wall Street Journal, Lauren has published articles on mindful microdosing in Women on Psychedelics, Psychedelic.Support, and other outlets.
Lauren began her career as a Fulbright Fellow in the Andean region, where she lived for over 20 years. She subsequently spent nearly two decades on the Indian subcontinent, immersing herself in language preservation within the Tibetan refugee community. Her work and life experiences bridge Western perspectives with the deep spiritual traditions of the East.
More recently, Lauren cared for her late husband through his journey with Alzheimer's. Their shared experience deepened her understanding of mindfulness, aging, caregiving, and end of life. She now brings this deeply personal perspective to her work, sharing insights grounded in lived experience and the transformative potential of mindfulness and mindful microdosing.
Lauren is a certified End of Life Doula and Yoga Therapist, serves on the faculty of the Microdosing Institute, and holds a PhD in Global Educational Leadership. She is also a Tibetan and crystal singing bowl practitioner, thermal spring enthusiast, tennis player, and lifelong learner.
A long-time mindfulness practitioner, certified microdosing coach, and IAYT certified yoga therapist, Lauren has worked in US-based overseas schools for over 30 years and been a professor in several graduate programs in the US. She is an avid tennis player, thermal spring enthusiast, Tibetan and crystal bowl practitioner, and lifelong learner. Lauren is a certified E.O.L.D (End Of Life Doula) and yoga therapist. Lauren holds a Ph.D. in Global Educational Leadership.
